Peter A Cook, Sr., President of C&C Advisors of Marshfield, MA has established a Scholarship Fund with a $50,000 donation for residents of the South Shore suffering from Alcohol and Drug Addiction.
Mr. Cook, a Marshfield resident and business owner, specializing in health care has been a long-time supporter of programs surrounding alcohol and drug prevention.
Cook said, “Massachusetts has been at the forefront in addressing insurance payment issues regarding substance-disorder for insurance companies doing business across the Commonwealth. Health Care Providers have been mandated to pay for 14 days of in-patient treatment for their clients. The law provides a considerable benefit to state residents in need; however, it falls short of the time necessary to achieve meaningful results.
Chief Phil Tavares, who serves on the Advisory Board, said, “C & C’s generous donation to the Scholarship Fund will help fill in the gap for those who may be in need for a longer program.”
Retired Chief Bill Sullivan, a long-time business associate, along with Sheriff Joe McDonald also serve on the Cook Family Charitable Fund’s Advisory Board. The Cook Family Charitable Fund is a 501 (c)(3) registered trust. Together with their friends the Cook Family Charitable Fund has raised more than $1,250,000. Beneficiaries have been Cardinal Cushing Centers, Caron Treatment Centers, Gavin House, Jordyn Cook Epilepsy Fund, My Brother’s Keeper, The Ron Burton Training Village, and Work, Inc. Most recently the fund made a $30,000 contribution to the Cape Cod Health Care, Cape Cod Hospital Expansion.
